Release Notes: Customs Warehouse Launch & iWarehouse Enhancements

Product Modules: iWarehouse (Excise & Customs)

Release Status: Live / Production

Impact Scope: New Warehouse Profile · Movement Ledger · Stock Management · Duty & VAT Calculation · Product Inventory · Incident Management · UK Trade Tariff API Integration

Release Summary

This release adds the customs warehouse profile to iWarehouse, tailoring the whole product to the regime you're operating under — complete with a customs-specific movement ledger and automatic duty and VAT calculation on removal, with rates taken live from the GOV.UK Trade Tariff API.

Alongside the Customs Warehouse launch, we're shipping a series of enhancements that benefit excise, customs, and bonded warehouses together: a new Stock Management tab, a new Duty Management tab, a redesigned Product Inventory modal, Movement Ledger improvements, and batch-aware Incident handling.

Part 1 — New: Customs Warehouse

Customs-Specific Movement Ledger

The movement ledger is now tailored to customs operations when you're working under the customs warehouse profile — the right columns are shown, and excise-only fields are hidden so the grid shows only what applies.

What's included

  1. New customs columns: Reference, SKU, Commodity Code, MRN
  2. Unit and bulk weight & volume columns on every line
  3. Excise-only fields removed from the grid under the customs profile

Why it matters: a ledger that fits the regime you're working in — no clutter, no irrelevant fields.

Automatic Customs Duty & Import VAT Calculation

Duty and import VAT are now worked out automatically on removal, with rates taken live from the GOV.UK Trade Tariff API against the product's commodity code. No more side-of-desk spreadsheets to work out what's owed.

Why it matters: removals are costed as they happen, using the authoritative live tariff — accuracy and traceability built in.

Part 2 — New & Improved for Every Warehouse

Applies to Excise, Customs and Bonded warehouses.

Stock Management

A new tab showing live stock by product and batch, with duty deferred and duty paid split out. It updates itself from every movement you record.

What's included

  1. Batches are created automatically on receipt
  2. Batches are drawn down on removal
  3. Batch status marked Untouched, Part drawn, or Exhausted as they go

Why it matters: a live, batch-level view of stock that stays in step with the ledger — no manual reconciliation.

Duty Management

A new tab with summary cards across the top and three dedicated views for the different states of duty across the warehouse.

What's included

  1. Entry Identifier — everything that came in, flagged duty paid or duty deferred
  2. Duty Paid Removals — what's gone out, with duty and VAT calculated
  3. Duty Deferred in Bond — what's still sitting under bond, by product and deferred movement

Why it matters: a single place to see the whole duty picture — in, out, and still under bond — at a glance.

Product Inventory — Redesigned Add/Edit Modal

Adding a product no longer takes you off the list. A slide-in panel on the right organises everything into collapsible sections, with a second tab dedicated to excise where needed.

What's included

  1. Collapsible sections: Product, Stock & Location, Parties, Customs Details, Classification Codes, and Duty, VAT & Pricing
  2. Second Excise Details tab for excise product codes, tax types, and commodity-specific values
  3. Classification codes can be added more than once where a product needs several

Why it matters: faster product creation that keeps you in context, with the right level of detail per regime.

Movement Ledger Improvements

A series of improvements to the movement ledger that benefit every warehouse profile.

What's included

  1. New columns: Reference, SKU, Commodity Code, MRN, Batch, Unit & Bulk Volume, Unit & Bulk Weight
  2. Select an item reference and the product details fill themselves in from your inventory — locked so they can't drift out of step with the master record
  3. Admins can lock movements once they're signed off, making them read-only for everyone else
  4. Owner of Goods is now a contact record rather than free text

Why it matters: a ledger that captures more detail, prevents data drift, and gives admins the controls to protect signed-off entries.

Incidents — Now Batch-Aware with Automatic Write-Offs

Incidents now carry a batch number, and closing one automatically creates the write-off movement — authorised destruction or losses in storage — so stock comes off the right batch without anyone having to remember.

Why it matters: fewer missed write-offs, cleaner stock figures, and incident impact flows straight through to the ledger.

Important Notes

Scope of this release: iWarehouse now supports excise, customs, and bonded warehouse profiles. The Stock Management, Duty Management, Product Inventory, Movement Ledger, and Incident enhancements apply across all three.
GOV.UK Trade Tariff API: automatic customs duty and import VAT calculation on removal pulls rates live against the product's commodity code — so calculations always use the current, authoritative tariff.
