CDS 10003 – Number of Occurrences exceeds what is allowed for the Data Element

Created by Omer Farooq, Modified on Sat, 14 Feb at 2:13 PM by Omer Farooq

System: CDS

Error Code: CDS 10003 (CDS-10003)

Explanation

Obligation error: Number of Occurrences exceeds what is allowed for the Data Element

When it happens (Reason)

Too many instances of a data element. You have exceeded the limit for one of the fields on the declaration. For example, only 1 preference code can be declared against an item.

Quick Fix

Identify which data element(s) exceed allowed occurrences from the rejection details.

Step-by-step resolution

1. Identify which data element(s) exceed allowed occurrences from the rejection details.

2. Review the declaration specification for the maximum allowed occurrences for that DE.

3. On the declaration, count instances of the DE and mark extras.

4. Remove or consolidate duplicate/extra instances so the count equals or is below the permitted maximum.

5. If duplicates are needed, move repeated information into a permitted alternate DE or attach supporting documents as required.

6. Validate the declaration to confirm occurrence counts are within limits.

7. Resubmit the declaration.
