Scheduled Downtime: HMRC NCTS Phase 6 Upgrade (June 1, 2026)

On Monday, 1 June 2026, HMRC is deploying the New Computerised Transit System, Phase 6 (NCTS6). To facilitate this upgrade, there will be a scheduled downtime for both Great Britain (GB) and Northern Ireland (XI) NCTS services.

During this window, the iCustoms team will also be performing mandatory API updates to connect your account to the new NCTS6 framework.

When is the downtime?

  1. Start: 07:00 (BST) on 1 June 2026
  2. Expected End: 09:00 (BST) on 1 June 2026

How this affects your Transit Operations:

  1. Queued Messages: Any Inbound or Outbound messages generated during the downtime will be queued by the system and processed as normal once the service is restored.
  2. For Departures: We highly recommend submitting your departure declarations early so they reach at least ‘Accepted’ status prior to 07:00 BST. If a declaration is 'Rejected' before the downtime, you will need to wait until after 09:00 BST to resubmit.
  3. Avoid Inland Border Facilities (IBFs) and Ports: HMRC strongly advises against starting any Departure movements that require attendance at an IBF or port while the system is down.
  4. For Arrivals: You can continue moving goods as usual, but keep in mind that final processes (like Office of Destination notifications) will be delayed until the system comes back online.

What you need to do: Please hold off on submitting new NCTS declarations during the 07:00–09:00 (BST) window. We will post a follow-up announcement here as soon as the iCustoms platform is fully connected to NCTS6 and ready for you to resume filing.
