Registration for Freight Forwarders

Overview

A freight forwarder may need to register for iCS2 if they are responsible for submitting the Entry Summary Declaration (ENS) for goods entering or transiting the EU.

The party responsible for submitting the ENS must have the appropriate iCS2 registration and access. If a freight forwarder submits ENS declarations directly, they require their own iCS2 registration.

How iCS2 Registration Works

The responsibility for iCS2 ENS submissions depends on who is acting as the carrier or filing party:

  1. If the shipping line or carrier is responsible for submitting the ENS, the freight forwarder may not need to submit the ENS themselves.

  2. If the freight forwarder is responsible for submitting the ENS, they must have their own iCS2 registration and access.

  3. Having your own iCS2 registration allows the freight forwarder to submit and manage ENS declarations directly through iCustoms.

  4. The parties involved should agree in advance who is responsible for providing and submitting the required ENS data.

  5. The responsibility may vary depending on the transport arrangement, contractual roles, and how the shipment is filed in iCS2.
