CDS 10045 – Calculated item Customs value is negative. Check declaration valuation data

Created by Omer Farooq, Modified on Sat, 14 Feb at 2:13 PM by Omer Farooq

System: CDS

Error Code: CDS 10045 (CDS-10045)

Explanation

Calculated item Customs value is negative. Check declaration valuation data.

When it happens (Reason)

The deductions you declared may exceed the value of the items. See CDS Tariff completion notes for data element 4/9. Apportioning a deduction across multiple items must not reduce the value of any single item to zero or a negative amount.

Quick Fix

Review all valuation adjustments in DE 4/9.

Step-by-step resolution

1. Review all valuation adjustments in DE 4/9.

2. Check if deductions exceed the item’s actual value.

3. Remove or reduce deductions causing the value to fall below zero.

4. Recalculate the customs value per item.

5. Ensure apportioning does not bring any item value to zero or negative.

6. Re-validate the valuation.

7. Resubmit the declaration.
