Overview
When creating an ENS declaration, the Local Reference Number (LRN) and Commercial Reference Number must be completed correctly before submission. The LRN must be unique and cannot be reused from a previous entry.
Why ?
Fill out the Local Reference Number (LRN) before submitting a new entry.
If you duplicate an existing entry, the previous LRN may be carried over. HMRC does not accept a duplicated LRN, so update it to a unique number before submission.
If you receive ENS Error Code 4999, check the value entered in the Commercial Reference Number field, as incorrect values in this field can cause the error.
